
Ali Chapkin is a designer/maker working in Brighton and London.
Graduated from Brighton University in wood , metal, Ceramics and plastics BA (hons) 2009.
Specialising in bespoke furniture and lighting pieces; Ali works predominantly in wood and plastics.
Her personal style of making is defined through her research into developing highly exaggerated curves through using veneers.
The inspiration from Ali’s work is found in sculptural forms from nature and through her extensive travels through Mexico and Morocco.
Ali's flowing wooden forms predominately in rich American walnut wood, are combined with an infusion of the Mexican colour palette in the form of bold plastic components.
